What we do?
Train and incubate new and beginner farmers through hands-on workshops and technical short-courses
Provide holistic wraparound services to farmers including technical and business assistance increasing small-farm viability.
Build a community of committed farming professionals across the island that support each other and feed their communities
The 4 Main Components of our Academy:
1. Agricultural Entrepreneurship 101 Course - a five week intensive online course with a final in-person gathering in Yabucoa. Over 750 people from Puerto Rico and even 5 different countries have participated! Learn the basics of sustainable farming!
2. In-person workshops in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico - the last Thursday of the month we have a free, in-person workshop which covers a range of topics from how to design and install drip irrigation to how to make your own compost! Over 400 people participated last year.
3. Technical Services - a farmer is paired with our team of agronomists to work on a special project over three months which is chosen by the farmer which can range from a marketing strategy to help finding agricultural financing.
4. Digital Library - a set of crop and animal production specific videos which covers an introduction and how to start.
